Carl Cox Motorsport Cup
Sponsors
Phil and Cheryl London were our first naming sponsors for the Cup in 2011 through their WIL Sport brand and carried on that support for 5 years. Their altruistic funding of worthy sports men and woman around the world plus race championships has enabled many to realise their dreams and goals. With carefully managed pathways created in partnership with like minded people their support has been tremendous to say the least. They remain valuable sponsors of our Cup 10 years on.
Many of you would of heard of Carl Cox, voted many times the worlds Number 1 DJ. Carl has an extraordinary history in the music world and is also a lover of most things fast! From his 300mph drag car to our humble Hyosung 250’s Carl is a fan. His contribution to motorcycle, sidecar, drag and Supercar racing the world over is quite special. His garage has over 50 motorcycles and he learnt to ride on a Hyosung.
Thank you for your huge contribution to our Cup Carl.
Motul lubricants need no introduction to the motorcycle racing world. One of the world’s biggest supporters of motorcycle racing and that commitment is the same in New Zealand with our Cup. Motul have been a sponsor for 7 years now, providing premium oils and products to keep out race bikes reliable and performing at their best.
Our 2019 Ninja Cup Champion Jacob Stroud raced on the Bridgestone R11 tyres to win the National SS300 Championship in that year. He raved about the tyres and the grip they provided. I was keen to get a tyre sponsor on board with the Cup and Whites Powersports were equally keen to be involved in a quality Championship. Our partnership continues for the 2024/25 season and our racers enjoy very preferential pricing on these fantastic tyres.
Kawasaki is a brand I have had a passion for all my motorcycling life, a Japanese brand with character who build extraordinary motorcycles setting records for speed and endurance through the decades. As I write this I own 7 of them. From April 2024 the “green” bikes are distributed from Australia by the factory owned Kawasaki Motors Australia. The Team in Australia have generously agreed to continue supporting the Cup, some recognition of how well our Championship is respected in the motorcycle world.
Without a club to run our events we wouldn’t have a Cup. I first joined the AMCC in about 1978 and won a few Club Championships back in those days. When I took the Cup idea to the committee about 10 years ago the idea was embraced and we have worked as a great team ever since. Always accommodating and supportive they are a group of volunteers who just love racing and give up many, many hours of their time to make it possible for us.
MTF Finance Wairau Valley is owned by myself and Richard Scott (Scotty). We have contributed to the Cup from day 1. We are both ole racers who competed all over the world in the ‘80’s having a few battles that ended in tears and some great victory’s also. Richard was the high achiever gaining a Grand Prix ride for Kenny Roberts in 1987, whilst I took on the walls and curbs of the Isle of Man TT and 24 Hour Endurance Racing. Both our careers ended in 1987 when we returned home to a more quite pace of life.
Led by Chris Smith, himself a Ninja Cup Champions Passmasters NZ are the premium rider trainer company in New Zealand. Offering a huge range of courses including the ACC Ride Forever subsidised courses. Chris’s Team are Cup Super Fans and many of them are racing themselves or supporting riders with track based training and technical set up aspects. We are very proud to have them on board for another year.
Nolan are a premium brand helmet manufactured in Italy and imported by Cup sponsor Eurobike Wholesale. This is a family owned and operated business since 1973 specializing in quality motorcycle parts, riding gear and equipment mainly from Italy. A long history of racing and supporting racers comes with the O’Connor family from New Plymouth. They live and breathe motorcycles and have generously come on board using Nolan as their brand but with many other products available to the registered Cup racer.
A Cup Super Sponsor for four years now is Dave Hewer, owner of Kiwibike Insurance based in New Plymouth. Many would have seen his signs on a few racers bikes as he has supported several Cup competitors directly over the years. Dave is a keen rider himself and really enjoys attending the races to support his riders. Many of us have our road bikes insured with Kiwibike Insurance who offer great service and it's fantastic that Dave is giving back to our sport.
Not an official sponsor but I must make special mention of Cliff Field and his video production business TT Kiwis. Cliff has been a friend of the Cup for 5 years now and his work producing some epic footage both on bike and in the pits has been simply awesome and a great record of some our most exciting races. He spends hundreds of hours editing up to 12 cameras footage so we and others switching onto You Tube can relive and enjoy for many years to come.
