At last, a sunshiny day…all day! How good is it race in conditons that don’t change every 15 minutes? A cold southerly was the only detractor but not too bad. I actually enjoy the pit setup with the tent and somehow more relaxed atmosphere of the Club Circuit.

What a day! Don’t know about you but I’m still recovering, lol. The only constant with the weather was that it was constantly inconsistent. So many tyre and wheel changes had us very busy all day.

It’s a long time between rounds 4 and 5 for the Cup, but so good to get the band back together.

Here we go again! That was my thought when checking the weather forecast constantly for 10 days leading up to our much anticipated 1 Hour race event. Last year we were rained out and timed out.

What a great days racing! Always fun at the Club Circuit, low cost and lost of quick fire races. After the fog burned off the day was warm and sunny with track temps in the mid 40’s. We had 24 Hyosung’s and 20 Ninja 400’s entered with the option to cross enter into Prolites for the Hyosungs and Open Ninja for the 400’s.

We are underway! Season 13 burst into life on Sunday with 51 Cup competitors split quite evenly between the two classes. This will be a season of mixing experienced Cup Campaigners and new racers itching to test themselves on their 250’s or Ninja 400’s.

Taupo Motorsport Park has always been a favourite for the Cup. A great race track for smaller bikes, excellent facilities and a weekend away.

Motofest is one of the premier events on the road racing calendar for New Zealand and the Cup is very proud to be a support class. Being Round 5 of NZSBK and celebrating the 2 stroke era it attracted a good crowd and some fantastic racing.

The weather forecasters were on the money as it turned out. Dry start followed by showers, and thunder storms. All of these conditions in an hour also.

Superlatives and adjectives. Not enough of them I’m afraid to describe last weekend and Round 2 of the Cup. Just epic!

I don’t know how to start this report. So many emotions from a spectacular day at the race track! Excited, fizzed, blown away, grateful, loved, and overwhelmed are just a few.

It is my pleasure to announce the 12th running of the Carl Cox Motorsport Cup. Our record setting season will kick off in September with Round 1 of the AMCC Championships..

Many thanks to the AMCC Buckets who welcomed us to join them on May 1 on the tricky HD Club Circuit to enable our third and final round for 2022.

Well, in the midst of a chronic pandemic outbreak on March 6 at Hampton Downs, Round two of our 11th season was held. I can honestly say this was THE most epic day of Cup racing I can remember.

An unprecedented 313 days between Cup races has tested the resolve of us all. Five aborted attempts to get our 11th season started in 2021 was extremely frustrating. But we are finally underway and what a day it was. The weather was a pleasant 26 degrees, overcast at times and little wind. A record 44 Cup entries were making up a huge 131 total entry list for the first round of the AMCC Club Championships.

Well, we finally got to officially launch the 11th season of the Cup yesterday at Grind On Cafe.

I have just been advised by the management of Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park that our event on December 18th must be cancelled.
