Some very bad news…
Dear Cup Racers and Fans,
This is not an easy message to send. There are a few analogies that could be used relating to trying to get an event underway in the last few months. One is roulette with a 6 shooter but the revolver has 5 bullets in it.
I have just been advised by the management of Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park that our event on December 18th must be cancelled. This decision was not taken lightly, but for a variety of reasons supported by legal advice. They could not run our permitted event under the traffic light system which, amongst other things, requires all staff and guests on site to have a vaccine passport, under any colour of light. Negative tests within 72 hours are not acceptable for events according to Government imposed rules, effectively excluding anyone unvaccinated from any event.
The effects of these rules will be very far reaching and it concerns me greatly how relationships and sporting groups are going to manage. Certainly very divisive.
I can only offer my sincere apologies for yet another (now 5) cancellation of getting our season underway. The song goes, "we get knocked down, but we get up again". The character of the Cup and its people is such that we will get up again and we will now target January 23rd for our first round at Hampton Downs.
You may be tired of my messages but I want you to all be informed as best I can and as early as I can.
